Share Ross Bassist In Vixen

When i was a kid we had very few girl rockers to look up too. If

you loved that type of music you were either happy with that cause

the guys lets face it were great to look at or you wanted more. I

Knew of Janis joplin who was bad ass but gone way to soon, Jefferson

airplane (Grace Slick), who got extremly poppy in my time, Even

Pat bentar was going the pop way not many girlies were rocking.

But i searched them out cause me being a fan of Girl Power had to

do so, I found many many that were rocking chicks but they only

the singers, Pat benetar, saraya, lita ford, Joan Jett, all front women

but there were no full bands of these rocking girls. So when vixen

hit the scene that was a big big deal to me. I knew there were chicks

rocking everywhere but being limited to what we seen we just didnt

see them until these girls. That was i was an insta fan, bought there

tapes, anthing they were on i had to see, or i had to have. Now i

realise times have changed and what was popular to us doesnt

mean its popular to everybody but it doesnt make me any less of

a fan and there are many many people around just like me.

I got the chance to meet them and they were all so real.  I still to

this day apreciate that fact and feel extremly honored that she

would take even a little bit of time to answer these few questions

for me.  Thanks Share...

TRA: . What Inspires you?

SR: I do my best to find inspiration in everything. But if I had

to pin it down.. I'd say nature is my biggest inspiration especially the beach.

TRA: I love Vixen, Have been a fan since the first album "Vixen" was

released, What do you think in your career with the band is the

Most favorite moment to happen to you with being in the band?

SR: Ahhh… Good question. My fav moment in Vixen was our first tour of Europe

with the Scorpions. It was all so new and exciting and they treated us like rock

gods. Amazing.

TRA: Do you play any other instruments?

SR: Yes, I started out on piano and still play that. I also play guitar and can lay

down a solid groove on the drums.

TRA: Do you have any regrets and is there something you would've done

by  now in your career?

SR: No, I live by the credo that everything happens for a reason. So I have

no regrets and simply learn from my mistakes. I got where I am today

because of choices that I made. So if I don't like something.. I can choose differently.

TRA: What  is your favorite song to play and why?

SR: My fav song to play is whatever I'm playing. I love playing music and view it as

a privilege and honor. Whatever the current song is? I love it.

TRA: Do you have a favorite place to play? and if so why?

SR: I love playing anywhere that will have me.

TRA: What made you choose bass?

SR: I had a cousin who played bass and I thought he was really cool. I switched

from classical piano to bass guitar so I could join a band in my high school.

It worked! I got to be in the coolest rock band in school. It was at that point

that I knew I was hooked.

TRA: How do you think music has changed since you first started out?

SR: Music has changed a lot. In two ways. One, in the fact

that everyone can create it and record it now. It's much more

accessible to learn to play an instrument and record your songs

with a computer. And the second way it's changed is how accessible it is

to connect to your fans with the internet.

Love it!

As far as music itself changing? That's inevitable and I can't wait to see and

hear how music continues to evolve.

TRA: Why do you think your band has hung in there and didn't just

disappear once the music on the mainstream changed?

SR:We're very fortunate to have the opportunity to play again. I don't think you can answer 'why' that

happens. But we sure appreciate our fans!

TRA:  do you think it was tougher when you were coming up being

a woman in rock then it is now?

SR: Being a chick in rock never bothered me. I was in tons of bands where I was the only chick and

still play in lots of bands besides Vixen where that happens. Either you can play or you can't.

I don't know that it was ever tough now or then. You just gotta rock like you mean it.

Play your instrument like your life depends on it. Not because you want to be

famous. Not because you think you're gonna be a rockstar. But because you are

living and breathing with every note. That's what rock n roll is about to me.

Thank you share. I didnt think it was possible but i think iam more

of a fan now. :)
